Same model here, fuse says 7A 125V and it was black/blown. I bought 7A 125V/250V which should be ok, I have been told, and it blew as soon as I plugged it in, even with the switch in the "off" position. Any ideas what to try next?

I know these posts are 3-5 years old but for the benefit of others with a blown fuse, my results were the same as Jim's, replcing the fuse did not work, I ran the motor with a line cord it was ok. It is a short in the low tech circuit board. Also going to the dump.

any suggestions on where to get this replacement fuse?

HELLO TAMMY, YOU MAY HAVE GUESSED BY NOW BUT YOU UNPLUG THE SHREDDER HEAD, TURN IT UPSIDE DOWN ON THE TABLE AND IF YOU LOOK CAREFULLY IN THE THIN DEEP POCKETS AND YOU WILL SEE A SCREW,REMOVE FIVE SCREWS AND ONE ON EACH SIDE AND LIFE THE BOTTOM HOUSING OFF, LOOK AROUND THE CORD WIRES AND YOU WILL SEE A BLACK FUCE, REPLACE IT AND YOU ARE SHREDDING AGAIN.

It is woth mentioning that the teeth of the cutter should be well cleaned (and perhaps lubricated too) before trying to restart the unit. My unit did stop at the end of a job. I unplugged it. After waiting over the 1/2 hour recommended it would not restart. (Just turn on the switch off/on/off briefly)Unit unplugged, taken apart, the fuse seemed OK, but there was paper stuck in all the teeth of the cutter. It took less than 10 minutes to clear the paper with a miniature flat screwdriver. It works fine now.
My faith is restored in this inexpensive, pretty sturdy (considering) home shredder.

I agree with Jim. I have exactly the same shredder and same problem ie fuse blown and blows any replacement. I have disconnected the motor even to take any load off and it still blows. I am out of warranty but if you are in warranty or have a credit card extended warranty then dont take apart and begin process of return.
I have hardly used my shredder, it seems to have a poor electronics design that cant deal with being switched on and off.

Tammy,
If it is still within the 1 year warranty do NOT remove the screws on the shredder - one of them has a tamper sticker over it.
If it is over 1 year you can replace the fuse - but the odds are something else is wrong to make the fuse blow. I took mine apart and replaced the fuse but it immediately blew again! I disconnected the motor/gears and replaced the fuse again - and it continued to blow even with no "real" load on it. It's headed to the dump now.
But if you really want to give it a try, unplug the unit and flip the top part so it is upside down on a table. There are 5 screws (one is under a sticker) in the main housing, and two adidtional ones on the side of the housing. Once the screws are out you can lift the cover off the housing and flip it to the side - there will still be wires attached so don't pull them too hard.
There is a circuit card with a glass 7 amp slow blow fuse in it - I believe the size is 5mm x 20mm. Change the fuse, replace the cover on the housing and screw in the 7 screws. Then you are ready to put it back on the bin and plug it in.
If the power light comes on when you turm it on it is a sign that it is not a problem with the electronics (like mine is) but if it blows the fuse when you operate it than you might have a gearbox problem!
Good luck with it!
BTW Radio Shack only had fuses in that size that went up to 6.5 amps but you could try those first just to see if you get the power light. If you don't you are up the creek like me!!
