I had the same problem and I've managed to fix it. The screen kept going blank and it wouldn't recognise my sim card and kept asking me to re-insert it. I noticed by looking at my friends hardly used motorola RAZR V3 that my sim card moved in and out of place quite easily, whereas on the hardly used phone it was a much tighter fit. I used a small piece of plastic from a clothes tag and cut a small square. If you slide this on top of the sim card after it has been inserted it helps the sim card to connect properly. My RAZR is working perfectly now. I was desperate to fix it because all the other phones I have used seem to unlock themselves in my handbag and make random video calls to anyone on my contact list. I hope this helps.
