Just repaired our door switch, the switch cost £10 and next day delivery was £8. Swapped out the switch and flicked the new switch to open position ( this takes a little force as its sprung), replaced door panel and bingo...good as new.

BRILLIANT! This is the first time we have ever been able to fix something with online advice. It was definitely the door lock our model is KDW60W10 took inside door panel off and the door catch. Flipped the plastic door catch so it faced horizontal toward the metal male part of the catch instead of upward.

My built in Kenwood D/W had the lights no one home scenario. I did notice it wasn't shutting properly too. Manually pushed the door catch in the door back into position thus releasing the door closed sensor switch after gaining access by removing the door front.
Caution turn off electric and support the built in door front when releasing. Mine dropped off like a tombstone. None the worse for wear though, but that was more luck than skill.

I have just looked at a fault on my kenwood dishwasher it would not select a program and was showing 88 in the display. turns out it was a simple door catch problem where the catch was out of alighnment. pushed it back and now it runs ok. will let you know if I have any further problems

1] Check that plug hasn't dislodged at the rear.
2] Check fuses on plug and wall switch (just create a circuit with a bulb and a battery/dry cell and fuse no need for expensive testers)
3] If you removed the switch to the door connector for better access, ensure that you replace it the right way round. There is a switch on the upper surface that remains off if you clip it on the wrong way round.
4] At the rear of the detergent box is a set of levers/switches. On the left underside of this is a spring loaded switch. Push it up till you hear/feel it click.
I did this and it all worked fine. The program button restarted to work.

Just to say thank you all so much for taking the time to answer all these questions. We've had the same problem, we took apart the door as you explained, pushed the switch in and now we're off again! Yeah, no more doing dishes by hand!

Thanks guys, this has just saved me! It actually takes longer to get the screws out that to reset the catch with a firm push!

If you need a replacement control board / display for one of these dishwashers, there's one on eBay for less than half price. It's £39.99 - Just noticed and thought I would pass it on!!

It is the door switch - turn off the power - undo the screws securing the front panel ( you can leave the bottom 2 in) it will drop forward. use a "blunt" knife - or similar - and flip the switch back. If you have to take the switch out and disconnect the leads - make sure you put them back on the same two bottom contacts!

We have the same dishwasher and the same fault. Our engineer (supplied by kenwood through ringing curry's product support) came out and had it fixed in 5 mins. It is the switch inside the door closing mechanism (you may notice that the door isn't clicking closed) Our switch had moved out of place. He took the door cover off, moved it back into place, and this now allows you to choose your cycle, the door clicks closed and the machine starts. This was about 6 weeks ago and our dishwasher has again developed the same fault. I will be looking for a refund / replacement but different product now.
