In my case it turned out to be the Denso Suction Control Valve. Its part of the fuel pump but of course Vauxhall want to sell you the whole unit!
Part cost me £90, paid as local mechanic to fit it, problem fixed.
When I bought it (www.dieseljones.co.uk) the guy on the sales desk instantly knew the problem I was referring to. Its a common fault on the Denso pumps (Some Nissan diesels also have the same issue). When winter strikes in Europe apparently sales of these parts spikes.

Hi,
I had exactly the same problem last year luckily it was under warranty. They changed the injectors, fuel lines, common rail diesel line, cleaned the tank etc in the end it turned out to be the high pressure diesel fuel pump, i believe they are more like £1500 fitted.

Thanks guys. I manage to get in contact with a mastertech guy(vauxhall technician) he confimrs the ecu on this is not remapable. He said a new fuel pump is defo required. Ive used a service called findapart (0906 919 8000) and located a few secondhand pumps.so i think im gonna try that as its about 220 so a cheaper option.

James, I've got exactly the same problem with my Corsa cdti sri. I've tried re-mapping the ECU and it's made no difference. Like you I've been told it needs either a new pump (I was quoted £900 before fitting!!) or a new ECU. Have you found out what's wrong with yours?
