I just read every helpful and unhelpful comment on the Internet about this E4 as ours has just done it and the manual was useless, so after a good thought I'd try
*turning it off,
*tilting it backwards for a few minutes
*clean up the water,
*tilt it back to normal, wait a few minutes,
*turn it on and give it a go, so far so good
logic = the level float got stuck and needs to be moved loose by tilting the machine.
I'll let you know if it happens again!

just popped off the caps on the front at the bottom, used 2 small towels to dry out the area. it took about 2 mins and now it works as normal**(turn off the power just incase, there are cables behind the caps)**

I had the same problem, but cured it by dragging out the dishwasher from underneath worktop then tilting it by 45 degrees from back to front fairly sharply. Apparently there is a float that gets stuck occasionally. Hope this works for you
