you need to use special melamine paint. it goes on really smooth and dries glossy, perfect for the job

eggshell them!thin the first coat apply wiv a little sponge roller and lay off,simples however,it aint very scuff resistant but unless you plan to walk up your wardrobes there shouldnt be a problem so eggshell them.

Use a Zinsser primer (decorators secret weapon lol) from any builders/decorators merchants, but probably not from b&q or homebase etc, then undercoat & topcoat

Large DIY stores stock paint especially for covering laminate(B&Q etc)or you could sand,prime,and paint.Wash down with sugar soap first.
