How do I mend a tear in the inner lining of a hoodie jacket?

How do I mend a tear in the inner lining of a hoodie jacket? The lining that is ripped is either polyester or a silk like fabric. It is in the inner hood part and I don't want the mending to be easily noticed. I know i will have to have brown or whatever matching thread to begin with but that's as far as my knowledge goes...

You could try using either iron-on interfacing or the bonding web that you can buy to fix hems. The interfacing is sold in soft to hard versions - get a soft one. Slip it inside the tear with the glue side towards the lining and press it with a warm iron for a few seconds.. You might want to place a press cloth (bit of cotton or a tea towel) over the lining before applying the iron if the lining is likely to scorch. If using hem bonding web, be aware that it will also stick to the hood, not just the lining. Either method will mean that no stitching is visible but it may need to be done again if the item is washed frequently.
