Thanks Mike - your advice still working in 2017. Cheers!

Mike's instruction is clear and correct. It helps some people to solve the problem by themselves.Following those steps the whole inner mechanism can be removed from the box. You can buy the new washers labelled "K and KII Seating Washers" in BUNNINGs contrasting your old ones.

Thanks Mike, your instructions worked perfectly, although I did have to give the mechanism a bit of a tug after turning it anti-clockwise. I got a Performa "K" Valve Seating Washer from Reece for $3.65.

Thanks to everyone for all your great advice, I am 66 and had a quote for $248.00 to fix the toilet..Well I did it myself
following all your advice. New floater cost 19.98 and other washer cost 4.48 at bunnings....I am so clever...

Instructions worked perfectly. No need to pull out a nylon pin? The complete dual-flush mechanism from plunger/seal to button shaft, including the 50% & 100% flush arms, comes out in one piece.

Mike B. Thanks for the detailed advise....worked like a charm...bought the K washer from TrueValue hardware was $4.75....probably cheaper at Bunnings...Thanks Mike

Sorted out my question in this thread. Use a mirror on the underside to see which way and how far to turn. I then had confidence to apply pressure and turn anticlockwise. The unit then came away. I used a K series washer and the system works now how it should. Once disengaged it took and 10 min to fix then reassemble

I can't get mine to disengage after applying pressure and attempting to turn the arch unit ani clockwise. There are guides where it seats and no opportunity to bayonet release. Anyone else find this? Everything else is as described in this thread. tks

I just replaced mine as described by David, Bunnings have the washers. Packey marked as replacement for reba and fowler and the designation is "K". $2.50 and no more than 10 mins work job done.

I made a washer from the base of a neoprene stubby holder. Works perfectly.

Solution is actually easy but not obvious.
Step1 : Remove nylon pin holding white plastic arm in place (ie the arm that raises the dual flush flap into position on right side of blue box).
Step2: Apply very slight downward pressure on the arch supports whilst turning (twisting) them anti clockwise. The unit has a baynet mechanism at the base (like a light bulb). This will release the whole inner mechasism from the box.
Step3; Lift out the inner mechanism.
Step 4 Change the rubber washer at base of plunger by unscrewing the plastic knob holding it in place. Take the old washer to a hardware store to ensure replacement is a proper match.
Step 5 To refit the mechanism just reverse the steps
Note: Ensure the baynet points ( plastic tabs )on the bottom of inner mechanism line up with holes on the base plate (in the box) before twisting clockwise to lock it back in place.
I've just done it and its not hard.
That it!

Assuming yours is the same as mine.... mine has the black plastic box around the central white plunger with a white arch over the top that the dual flush buttons sit on....
Worse design ever, I had the same issue with clearance on the pins and the only way I found to dissasemble it was by force, bend out the black plastic box around it and pull the pins out; took a bit of maneouvering but they popped out...
Once the pins were out I could slide out the big "arch" type piece that stops you from getting to the central plunger. The central plunger is connected to a little black
cylinder part (same plastic as the encompassing box); the black cyclinder twists counter clockwise a quarter turn to pop out, the whole assembly then pops out and you can access the washer (mine is labelled GR11 EPDM).

Hi,
I have same problem on disassemble the outlet valve to replace washer. It is blue and white with KT 121
REBA P.P. on it. Roy, could you email some photos to me?
Carman August 2009 |
Did anyone find how to dismantle the outlet mechanism on the Reba. I can't remove the pins from the slide rails as there is not enough room to fully extract them. Surely it can't be that hard to replace the flush outlet valve!?
Any help would be appreciated.
David July 2009 |
where can I buy washer set for a REBA cistern?
Eddy Fleita May 2009 |
Roy,
I have the same problem and would very much appreciate if you would forward some pics on how to disassemble the unit. How can I contact you via email.
Many thanks

Hi
I do not have an answer for you but I have exactly the same problem. I can tell you how to remove the mechanism but I do not know where to purchase the replacement washers. I am hoping that you may have found an answer to the problem by other means. It would be difficult to explain in words how to strip down the mechanism but if you email me I could send you some digital photos.
