I have the same problem - suspect it's the wiring in the base. Before ditching the kettle I'm going to buy the necessary tamper-proof hex torx screwdriver and have a look at the base.
Have checked the fuse and it's OK. Although nothing appears to be working, when I jiggled the cord where it joins the base there was that suspect crackling that means power is going to the base but may be a loose connection.

The only thing that you can really do is to check the fuse in the plug as any other repair will be uneconomic. The likely faults are the element having failed, or the contact between the kettle base and the kettle itself (if detachable) broken down.
