Good advice if there is a pump, but I suspect it's a simple case of a leaky fuel inlet needle valve - especially since it runs.
Remove float bowl and float. Clean end of needle, or replace if damaged. Parts are available. Re-assemble. This is probably all that's required.

Does your engine have a fuel pump?
If it does replace it!
Fuel pumps are operated by engine vacuum.
If the diaphragm is ruptured it can suck fuel
into the crankcase, turning it into a potential
80 pound bomb!
Do Not run the engine until you find the fuel source.
