Why will my 97 GP1200 waverunner not start?

My 97 Yamaha gp1200 waverunner will not start. The first time I tried to start it this season it would turn over. After I realized that I didn't have the gas on after a few tries, it will not do anything. When I push the start button nothing happens. Not a sound. I've checked the battery, made sure the safety line is attached and still nothing. I fugure it must be something electrical. Could I have blown a fuse trying to start it the first time? Any help will be appreciated.
