Hi Rob,
I'm not sure if yours is similar to mine? 5586U!
Anyway, if you still have it and want fix it - few things - the are two green resistors on the bottom of the board, component side, close to power connector. The bigger one is 33ohm 2W resistor, the smaller one Is Actually 1/4A Fast Fuse! Replace It with New One. On the print side of the board the are many SMD parts. The Collector of the BUX(middle pin) has two Diodes connected to it - small one direct and bigger one connected to the small one(in series, facing opposite direction, 90deg position). They look like small glass barrels. Make sure the Bigger One Is present and Good! NOW the major problem - Batteries! (my trouble started with bad battery!) You have to replace with new ones - it is AA type Ni-MH but before you do, test the circuit by connecting 12v DC
(any ac-dc adapter 12v 0.5a DC will do).
The green light should be on and after couple hours you may try to run the shaver from battery(just for 5-10sec). If it does run you could try to connect to power line - with safety measure! - 40W regular light
bulb in series. PLEASE, use socket, connector, plug and wire nuts - NO naked wires!!! Exposure to 120v maybe Life Threatening!!!
If something is wrong(short) the bulb will light - but it should be fine!
If it works the green light on the shaver will be more intense and you may turn it on for 5-10sec. If it runs - Success! Now plug it direct and test again. You fixed it - But you Still Have to Change the Batteries!
Don't run the shaver on old batteries!
Good Luck!
