Where did you get the schematic for the Thorn Multiwave
peter September 2009 |
Fault found and unit fixed.
Short ribbon cable hidden between digital pcb and main control pcb goes 'hard' with age. Tension lifts one end of connector and contact is lost on a couple of pins. Careful metering leads to detection.
Obtained schematic OK but there is no Thorn microwave company anymore!
Thanks for all help and suggestions.

There will; or should be, two power supplies in the machine - one to produce a DC voltage to power the control and display circuits and another, very, very high AC voltage to drive the magnetron and create the radiation.
My guess, and that's all it is, is that the DC power supply has failed in some way.
You will be extremely lucky to find a circuit schematic - they really don't want users tinkering around inside the box. I think your realistic options are a shop repair or a new machine.
Good luck...
