Attached to the motor is a capacitor (a large cylinder with a plastic cap and it is fixed in position by a single nut).
This capacitor basically gives the motor a 'jump start' to get the drum turning.
As they age, they cannot produce the surge needed to turn the motor/drum.
Replace the capacitor. You will need to check the microfarad? rating and get the same one.
Also make a note of where the wires go.
