How to stop fridge on Ocean frostfree fridge-freezer icing up ?

It is an Ocean TN 0730, Type APM 6814, Class N No 971922359, COD (I think - could be COO) 5673001P9 The freezer is OK, but the auto defrost in the fridge often doesn't work, specially in warmer weather, and thick ice builds up very quickly at the back. I haven't got the manual and wonder about the orange rocker switch and what it's for.
