Even though its a crack, you will have to cut through the gel coat which is the smooth outer of the hull if the fibre glass inside is not damaged you will be able to repair this with some gel coat repair which you get from your local chandlers. The way to repair this is to fill the crack with the gel coat repair with the right colour then place sellotape over the top and allow to dry, this process is very deprimental to the weather on how fast the gel coat sets. For belt and braces repair apply a fibre glass patch to the inside area and then ask the question to yourself why has the crack appeared in the first place.
