anne, another huge thank you from australia! I was looking forward to a great morning of sewing only to be greeted by that awful buzzing noise when I turned it on. Much panicking until I read your suggestion - it was the bobbin winder so no need to panic. Thanks!

Thank you Anne! I just turned my machine on for the first time and her the buzzing and panicked. It was just the bobbin winder! Thanks

Normally, on all Bernina computer machines, the buzzing that one hears is the initialization of the stepping motors. The motors are recalled to a check point by the computer for recalibration and are then reasigned to their starting defaults. If this is the buzz you hear, be happy that you hear it. It is saying "I'm ready, are you?"

Joan - check the bobbin winder on the top of the machine.Sometimes it gets pushed into the on position accidentally - and makes the buzzing noise you describe. Anne

Hello Jean,
Sounds like a suppressor problem which is near the motor, I would not mess about on this model trying to fix it, you may cause untold damage, are you sure it is coming from the machine and not the control ? it may be a loose wire or switch,
if you can give me any further information it would help, does the machine run on a little bit when you turn it on ?
