Hi Denise
I had/have a similar problem. As a lady, am not sure if you have the guts to do this, but if you open the bottom cover of the machine. You will see 2 black round semi plastic wheels that rotate each other. The 1st one is fed from the motor from the right and then it rotates the one which is vertical which in turn rotates the bobin. Now... On my machine, the black wheel with groves is loose (most likely wear and tear). So i took it out and am looking for the replacement but can't find in anywhere.
Maybe this is the same problem or could be something different. All the best.
Guys... Would you have the manual for the Singer Sonata 2220. Bought mine as a second hand without one. If you do, please e-mail it to me on mmuranganwa at gmail dot com Thanks

Hi, I have a singer sonata machine, for some reason it will not wind the bobbin for me. When it does, it will wind up less than half of the bobbin and it's so loose so can not be used, I'm actually winding the bobbin by hand.

Hi, Pamela! Have you fixed your machine? My mother has the same problem. I disassebled the machine and I think the problem is in the motor, because it is very hard to turn it with your hand. Somthing is hindering the rotor to turn easily. The other parts of the machine move very easy. So, if you know now something to help me, please answer here!

Hello Pamela,
Unless you can sort out the problem from the instruction book on that model you would be far better off getting computer models sorted out by the manufacturer. Are you sure you have the foot control plugged in all the way?
